What this covers
TRVs (thermostatic radiator valves) let each room control its own temperature. Room thermostats control the boiler based on a reference room. Together they decide how much fuel your heating actually uses.
Old TRVs seize open (radiator always hot) or closed (radiator always cold). Older room thermostats are inaccurate and often mis-positioned. Replacing them is cheap and immediately noticeable.
